Baba Bulleh Shah Kasuri

Bulleh Shah (1680 – 1757) (Punjabi: بلہے شاہ, ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ), whose real name was Abdullah Shah, was a Punjabi Sufi poet, a humanist and philosopher.
Early life and background
Bulleh Shah is believed to have been born in 1680, in the small village of Uch, Bahawalpur, Punjab, now in Pakistan.
When he was six months old, his parents relocated to Malakwal. There his father, Shah Muhammad Darwaish, was a preacher in the village mosque and a teacher. His father later got a job in Pandoke, about 50 miles southeast of Kasur. Bulleh Shah received his early schooling in Pandoke, and moved to Kasur for higher education. He also received education from Maulana Mohiyuddin. His spiritual teacher was the eminent Sufi saint, Shah Inayat Qadiri.
Little is known about Bulleh Shah's direct ancestors, except that they were migrants from Uzbekistan. However, Bulleh Shah's family was directly descended from the Prophet Muhammad.
  Career
A large amount of what is known about Bulleh Shah comes through legends, and is subjective; to the point that there isn’t even agreement among historians concerning his precise date and place of birth. Some "facts" about his life have been pieced together from
his own writings. Other "facts" seem to have been passed down through oral traditions. Bulleh Shah practiced the Sufi tradition of Punjabi poetry established by poets like Shah Hussain (1538 – 1599), Sultan Bahu (1629 – 1691), and Shah Sharaf (1640 – 1724).
Poetry Style
The verse form Bulleh Shah primarily employed is called the Kafi, a style of Punjabi, Sindhi and Siraiki poetry used not only by the Sufis of Sindh and Punjab, but also by Sikh gurus.
A Beacon of Peace
Bulleh Shah's time was marked with communal strife between Muslims and Sikhs. But in that age Baba Bulleh Shah was a beacon of hope and peace for the citizens of Punjab. While Bulleh Shah was in Pandoke, Muslims killed a young Sikh man who was riding through their village in retaliation for murder of some Muslims by Sikhs. Baba Bulleh Shah denounced the murder of an innocent Sikh and was censured by the mullas and muftis of Pandoke. Bulleh Shah maintained that violence was not the answer to violence.Bulleh Shah also hailed Guru Tegh Bahadur as a ghazi (Islamic term for a religious warrior) and incurred the wrath of the fanatic muslims at the time.

  Humanist

Bulleh Shah’s writings represent him as a humanist, someone providing solutions to the sociological problems of the world around him as he lives through it, describing the turbulence his motherland of Punjab is passing through, while concurrently searching for God. His poetry highlights his mystical spiritual voyage through the four stages of Sufism: Shariat (Path), Tariqat (Observance), Haqiqat (Truth) and Marfat (Union). The simplicity with which Bulleh Shah has been able to address the complex fundamental issues of life and humanity is a large part of his appeal. Thus, many people have put his kafis to music, from humble street-singers to renowned Sufi singers like the Waddali Brothers, Abida Parveen and Pathanay Khan, from the synthesized techno qawwali remixes of UK-based Asian artists to the rock band Junoon.
Bulleh Shah’s popularity stretches uniformly across Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims, to the point that much of the written material about this philosopher is from Hindu and Sikh authors.

   Modern Renditions

In the 1990s Junoon, Asia's biggest rock band from Pakistan, rendered such poems as Aleph (Ilmon Bas Kareen O Yaar) and Bullah Ki Jaana. In 2004, Rabbi Shergill successfully performed the unlikely feat of turning the abstruse metaphysical poem Bullah Ki Jaana into a Rock/Fusion song, which became hugely popular in India and Pakistan. The Wadali Bandhu, a Punjabi Sufi group from India, also released a version of Bullah Ki Jaana on their album Aa Mil Yaar...Call of the Beloved. Another version was performed by Lakhwinder Wadali titled simply Bullah. Bulleh Shah's verses have also been adapted and used in Bollywood film songs. Examples include the songs "Chaiyya Chaiyya" and Thayya Thayya in the 1998 film Dil Se. The 2007 Pakistani movie Khuda Kay Liye includes Bulleh Shah's poetry in the song Bandeya Ho. A 2008 film, 'A wednesday', had a song, "Bulle Shah, O yaar mere" in its soundtrack. In 2009, Episode One of Pakistan's Coke Studio Season 2 featured a collaboration between Sain Zahoor and Noori, "Aik Alif".

   Death

He died in 1757, and his tomb is located in Kasur, Pakistan.

Shaban & Its Importance in Islam

Literally, the word Shaban means branch. It can be said that Shaban branches off and leads to other good things. Shaban acts as a connection between the two blessed and sacred months of Rajab and Ramadan. Despite this, the importance of Shaban is often neglected and ignored.
Once, when the Prophet (PBUH) was asked why he fasts so much during this month. The Prophet (PBUH) replied,
“It is a month that people neglect, between Rajab and Ramadan. It is a month in which actions are raised to the Lord of the Worlds and I love for my actions to be raised while I am fasting.”

In this verse, “actions being raised” means that the actions are displayed to Allah during this month. This does not mean that Allah is unaware of our actions otherwise because Allah is the All-Knower and He sees and knows about everything. However, for Muslims this means that the month of Shaban is special because during this month Allah keeps a special tab on the actions of His believers. Also, if you worship Allah, pray regularly, read Quran and straighten out your deeds during this month, it is possible that Allah forgives all your previous wrongdoings.
Importance of Shaban
It is said that Shaban is the important to prepare for Ramadan. All Muslims are recommended to start preparing for Ramadan during Shaban. Muslims should use this month to prepare for fasting, praying and worshipping Allah. It is not recommended to begin fasting during the month of Ramadan without preparation. From a biological point of view as well it is important to be prepared before Ramadan begins. If Muslims prepare themselves for Ramadan beforehand, they will not feel tired and irritable from the lack of food and water during the day. It will allow them to adjust to the new routine very easily.
Also, for all those Muslims who have developed and acquired bad habits during the year, such as waking up late in the morning, it is essential to start quitting those habits. It will be useful when you try to wake up early in the morning to fast and pray to Allah Almighty.
Hazrat Ayesha, the wife of the Prophet (PBUH) said,
“I did not see him fasting in any month more than Sha`ban.”
She also said,
“The month which he loved to fast the most was Sha`ban.”
Upon being asked questions about this month, she said,
“In this month those who are destined to die are recorded for the Angel of Death. I love for my name to be recorded when I am fasting.”
Shaban and Its Rewards
Abu Hurayyah narrates,
“AbdulAziz ibn Muhammad said: Abbad ibn Kathir came to Medina and went to the assembly of al-Ala’. He caught hold of his hand and made him stand and said: O Allah, he narrates a tradition from his father on the authority of AbuHurayrah who reported the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) as saying: When the middle of Sha’ban comes, do not fast. Al-Ala’ said: O Allah, my father narrated this tradition on the authority of AbuHurayrah from the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him).”
Conclusion
Therefore, earning rewards is the duty of Muslims themselves. It is best if they realize their duty and grab every opportunity that comes their way to earn rewards. Therefore, it is your duty to pray and fast and worship Allah during the month of Shaban. It is also your duty to learn Quran and understand its teachings and principles to be a good and true Muslim.

Shab-e-Barat (Laila-Tul-Mubarka) 17th July 2011

In the Islamic culture, Shab-e-Barat has great importance and is celebrated with enthusiasm by Muslims all around the globe. For Muslims, this night has great importance regarding worship as well. Muslims would spend the entire night praying and worshipping, asking and requesting Allah for things that they desire. However, before delving into the customs followed during Shab-e-Barat, it is best to first understand the concept of this day.

The Concept of Shab-e-Barat in Islam

According to Islamic beliefs, on the night of Shab-e-Barat, Allah decides and determines the affairs of the coming year. During the night, Allah determines the destinies of all humans by taking into consideration the deeds of the previous year.
Muslims typically celebrate Shab-e-Barat on the 15th of Shaban, usually around fifteen days before the month of Ramadan begins. This year, Shab-e-Barat will be celebrated on the 17th of July, 2011. The celebration generally includes worshipping Allah all night, asking for His forgiveness and requesting for things that you desire.
According to a Hadith, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that any individual who fasts for three days during the month of Shabaan and recites durood three times at Iftar, Allah will forgive his sins and will increase his provisions. Additionally, the person will enter Paradise on a female camel on the Day of Judgment.
Nawafil:

As mentioned earlier, on the day of Shab-e-Barat, Muslims perform Nawafil and worship Allah to gain as much rewards as possible. Some nawafil are listed below.
1.      Offer 6 rakaat Nafl after the Maghrib prayers and after every two rakaats, recite Surah Yasin one time. This will help you get a healthy and prosperous life for the following year by the blessing of Alah.
2.      Offer 12 rakaat nafl namaaz and in each rakaat recite, Surah Fatiha one time and Surah Ikhlas ten times. After the prayer, recite 3rd Kalma ten times, 4th Kalma ten times, and Durood Sharif 100 times.
Allah says in Quran,
“Whoever of the nation [ummah] of My Beloved Prophet (Swall Allahu Alaihi Wasallam) performs 2 cycles [raka’] of prayer on the 15th night of Shabaan is better than this 400 years of worship.” {Nuzhatul Majalis}.
Forgiveness on Shab-e-Barat:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) says,
“Allah Glorious and Exalted descends to the nearest heaven on the night of mid-Shabaan (15th night) and He forgives more people than the number of hair on the hides of the flocks and herds of sheep of the tribe of Kalb”. {Tirmidhi}.
However, there are some people who are not forgiven on the night of Shab-e-Barat because of their previous deeds. Those who are not forgiven on the night of Shab-e-Barat are mentioned below.
1.      Alcoholics and habitual drinkers
2.      Those who perform adultery on a regular basis.
3.      Individuals who disobey their parents
4.      Individuals who have severed family ties.
5.      Those who like to spread mischief.
6.      Those who back bite often.
However, some narrations vary in this regard. Other narrations also include individuals practicing magic, gaining interest, lowering pants below their ankles with pride, beginning a dispute between two Muslims and those who have hatred for a Muslim in their heart. All these individuals are among those who are not forgiven on Shab-e-Barat.
Conclusion:
Therefore, Shab-e-Barat has tremendous benefits for Muslims. It is best to pray and worship Allah on that night and seek his forgiveness.

WinLockr is a portable application which provides extra security for your locked account by disabling the mouse and keyboard, except for the release key combination. With WinLockr you can lock your system simply by plugging in a USB, which has to be configured with this software. This provides additional safety for your locked system and adds an extra layer of security which bars others from accessing your system in your absence. Interestingly, even if a person was to know your password, he/she cannot access your computer if WinLockr is enabled, as it requires a unique key combination to access the system, which only you would have. To get started, launch WinLockr and enter a password.
After that, plug in a USB device and choose Install on USB. This will configure the device to act as a locking mechanism for your PC. When the USB is plugged, the mouse and keyboard will be disabled and the screen will be locked, except for the exact password combination which will unlock your system. WinLockr also supports shutdown prevention and therefore, prevents shutdown, restart, or log off actions when WinLockr is enabled. This is a somewhat similar attribute to the formerly reviewed Coffee software.

Fitness tip # 12 - Learn the alphabet For flexible ankles, trace the alphabet with your toes. Do this with both feet, one after the other. This is something that can be done anywhere - while waiting for someone, working on your computer or lying down on the couch.
Fitness tip # 13 - Pick up the pace Whatever you're doing do it faster. So if you're washing clothes, folding clothes, vacuuming the house or washing the car, speed it up just a notch. Just don't try it when slicing vegetables!
Fitness tip # 14 - Meet up with friends while doing exercise Instead of catching up over a cup of coffee, do it while playing tennis, taking aerobics lessons or learning salsa. Meet a couple of friends a few times a week and combine socializing with exercise.
Fitness tip # 15 - Tone your legs If you spend a lot of time sitting and working, you can try some leg exercises. Stretch out your toes forward and out slowly, away from your body, till you begin to feel a slight tension. Hold your position like that for half a minute. You could also try tightening your buttocks, rolling your neck 20-times in each direction, extending your arms over your head as much as possible and stretching or flexing your feet and ankles.

Guinness World Record for sewing the largest pair of blue jeans celebrated on Friday, one day after cranes buckled while trying to lift the giant 7.5-tonne pants.

Workers laid the pair on the ground and put big balloons inside the legs to show off the size of the jeans, which are 141 feet (43 m) tall and 98 feet (30 m) wide.
They have pockets, red buttons and a brown belt.
On Thursday, disillusioned crane operators gave up trying to lift the pants with three machines and went looking for a fourth. They wanted to lift the pants to display them. On Friday, workers had to scrap the idea of hoisting the jeans altogether.
